Dear List Members,

In a few words, I must reiterate earlier expressions: it's an
unprecedentedly tight challenge for the Championship this season. As no team
seems to be able to play constantly enough, there are only 4 points between
the table leaders, Herfølge BK (with 44) and No. 6, Lyngby FC (with 40).

Looking back over the last 10 seasons, since the inauguration of the
Superliga, this is by far the least efficient league, if Herfølge BK's
current Point average per match is compared with Superliga Champions' of the

No. Team Season Point average
per match
1. Brøndby IF 1997-98 2.303
2. Brøndby IF 1996-97 2.061
3. Brøndby IF 1995-96 2.030
4. Brøndby IF 1991 2.000
5. AaB 1994-95 1.969
6. AaB 1998-99 1.939
7. FC København 1992-93 1.938
8. Silkeborg IF 1993-94 1.875
Lyngby BK 1991-92 1.875
10. Herfølge BK 1999-2000 1.692

Please note that for the 1991-1996 seasons, points were converted from
2-points-per-win to 3-points-per-win for comparison purposes.

We have seen before that 2 or 3 teams contest for the Championship, but not
6 teams with a fair chance, only 7 rounds from finish. Very exciting indeed!
Next round, Brøndby IF vs. Herfølge BK is of course the absolute top-match.

Today, Erik Bo Andersen scored his 6th Superliga hattrick, and his fastest,
in only 9 minutes. This ranks as the 6th fastest hattrick (along with two
other) since 1991, still more than double the time it took Ebbe Sand to
score at hattrick on November 7, 1997 in Vejle BK 1-4 Brøndby IF. It only
took him 4 minutes and 2 seconds ....

Notably, we are only 34 goals away from the 13,000th goal since professional
football was introduced in early 1978. The current average implies that this
goal will be scored in the 13th match from now, which could be in only 2
rounds, then. We shall keep you informed, when this landmark is being
passed. And, by whom, of course.

After today, all clubs have now been seen by more than 100,000 spectators.
The current season average of just over 5,600 per match is not all-time-high
for Superligaen, but not a relatively bad number, in fact. It seems very
probably that there will be a total attendance of more than 1 million this
season, bearing in mind the close race for the Championship and that there
are still some usually very crowd intensive matches left.
