International Media Lounge for the World Cup™ in Frankfurt
Central base for journalists / Accreditation already possible
Frankfurt am Main (pia) An International Media Lounge is being set up in Frankfurt from 2nd June to act as a base and meeting point for journalists from all over the world. The summery meeting point is available exclusively to journalists and is situated in an easily accessible location, right in the heart of the city within the inner courtyard of the Museum of Local History (“Historisches Museum”). The evening of the 2nd June has been set for the Media Lounge’s grand opening party, to which all journalists are cordially invited by the City of Frankfurt and the Frankfurt Press Club.
Football will naturally feature large in the Media Lounge. Journalists will be able to watch all of the World Cup games on TV in a relaxed atmosphere, amongst an international crowd. In between the games, our media guests will be kept in good spirits by a programme of entertainment and a variety of food and drink.
The organisers, the Frankfurt Press Club (FPC) and the City of Frankfurt Press and Information Office (PIA), will also be offering journalists professional assistance. Indeed, the Media Lounge is being supported by virtually all of the Frankfurt media and every agency represented in the city. “We want to give our colleagues a warm welcome to Frankfurt and to offer them via the Media Lounge a good service of information and a pleasant place to relax and chat”, says Nikolaus Münster, Head of the City’s Press and Information Office. “Of course, we’re looking forward, too, to getting to know colleagues from all over the world.” Accreditation for the Media Lounge can already be appli ed for via the Internet.
Journalists looking for information and tips for their work in Frankfurt will find staff in the Media Lounge able to give professional advice. As well as providing material on sport, business, the arts and the restaurant scene in Frankfurt, the Press Office will also help in trying to gain filming consents. World Cup reporters will also be given assistance with looking for archive material or production services.
“We want the Media Lounge to contribute to conveying a long-lasting, positive image of the city and of the Rhine/Main region”, stresses Werner D’Inka, President of the Frankfurt Press Club and co-publisher of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
The International Media Lounge will be open from 2nd June to 2nd July, daily from 2pm to 1am. Its central location is the inner courtyard of the Museum of Local History (das Historische Museum), Saalgasse 19. The museum is located very close to the Römer town hall and the public viewing arena on the banks of the Main.
