MOGADISHU, September 22, 2012 - There is clearly no end soon to the wave of assassinations targeting Somali journalists in the country.
On Friday, three masked men armed with pistols shot dead veteran journalist Hassan Yusuf Absuge as soon as he left his radio Maanta compound after finishing his night shift.
He was hit multiple times on the head and chest and died on the spot as the killers escaped in a small car according to a resident Abdi Mohamed from the Bar Ayan neighbourhood.
Absuge graduated from the faculty of journalism at Somalia's Lafole University in 1989 and since then he worked at different stations in the country. Before he was the sports program presenter at the East Africa radio which was looted By Islamist militants in Somalia several years ago.
He also previously worked as a program producer at the state-run Radio Mogadishu.
Somali Sports Press Association President Abdi Aziz Godah Barre has totally condemned the latest assassination which comes less than 24 hours after three high profile journalists were killed in Mogadishu when two suicide bombers targeted them while at a the Village restaurant in Mogadishu which is well known for journalist gatherings.
This latest killing brings to 14 the journalists slain in the war-torn capital Mogadishu. No group has yet claimed for the responsibility of the killing of Hassan Yusuf Absuge.

Ali Ahmed Abdi Radio Galkayo newscaster was killed in the city of Galkayo on March 4 2012.
Mahad Salad Aden Shabelle radio reporter was killed in the central town of Beledweyn on April 5 2012.
Farhan Jeemis Abdulle of Radio Daljir was killed in the city of Galkayo on May 2/2012
Ahmed Addow Anshur Radio Shabelle editor was killed in Mogadishu on May 24/2012
Mohamed Jeylani Malaaq, a comedian and journalist was killed in Mogadishu on July 31/2012.
Yusuf Ali Osman a founding member of Somali sports press Association was killed in Mogadishu on August 12/2012.
Mahmoud Ali yare Buneyste, Radio voice of democracy newscaster was killed in Mogadishu on August 12/2012.
Freelance photo journalist Zakariye Mohamed Mahmoud was assassinated in capital Mogadishu on September 18 2012.
