Nordisk Kongres

Mandag d. 22. april 2013

The programme for the Nordic Congress for Sports Journalists is about to be ready.

We meet at Hotel Ascot on Monday 6 May at 1100 hrs. As our rooms will not be ready until later in the day, we take a short stroll to JP/Politikens Hus where the congress will begin with a presentation and a short going through of the programme.

Right after that we go to Viasat for a short tour and a light lunch followed by a meeting with Head of Sports Peter Nørrelund, who will give an account of the dramatic development at Viasat which holds most of the transmission rights. We will be told about setup, rights and long term strategy. After a couple of interesting hours we return to Hotel Ascot.

When everybody has been accommodated, we go to JP/Politikens Hus again to meet Carlsberg's Head of Sponsoring, Peter Giacomelli, who will tell us about the brewery's sports sponsorships. The topic is of current interest, as Carlsberg in connection with the European Championships is about to close a deal worth 450 million Danish kroner with UEFA, The Union of European Football Associations.

Later on former top handball player Camilla Andersen will give us an account of the challenges she faces in her current job as a managing director of a travel agency.

After a glass of bubbles a night watchman will lead us on a guided tour through central Copenhagen telling us about his job centuries ago and taking us directly to the city's oldest restaurant, Det Lille Apotek. After a couple of pleasant hours at dinner, the evening is at your leisure.

Tuesday morning at 0900 hrs. we leave the Hotel for a guided tour of the Copenhagen Town Hall, where we will be served the famous traditional town hall pancakes before meeting with Lord Mayor Frank Jensen who is also the chairman of Team Danmark. In that function he will talk about Team Danmark and the efforts to win more medals for Denmark at the Olympics.

Shortly before lunch we head for Dansk Boldspil-Union (DBU), the Danish Football Association, for a short tour and lunch. After lunch DBU and a Betfair representative from its London head office will discuss match fixing.

The more active part of the congress will consist of the Nordic Floorball Championship. At Valbyhallen Per Stærke from the Danish Floorball Association will give a short introduction to the rules - and then the game is on!

We return to Hotel Ascot to prepare for the farewell dinner in the Tivoli Gardens. We will have a drink outside the Hercegovina restaurant, and before going in to dinner we gather for small competitions at the small stalls of the amusement park as we did ten years ago.

Wednesday morning we check out from the hotel. Luggage can be deposited at the hotel or you can bring it along to JP/Politikens Hus just nearby, where the conference is being held.

As the final point on the congress' agenda, chief editor of Ekstra Bladet Poul Madsen will present the challenges facing the tabloid media, and Head of Development Søren Lauridsen will talk about the future and possibilities of the individual media platforms, before we have lunch.

We look forward to seeing you all and wish you a very pleasant stay.
